Save on Last-Minute Holiday Travel

Wednesday December 19, 2007

Yes, Virginia, there are last-minute travel bargains.

If you haven't booked a holiday trip or wish you could find a way to get to someplace warm for Christmas, there's still a chance to find low-cost airfares. Travelzoo's new Holiday Travel page can help you select travel dates and find airfare bargains. I checked fares between Washington, D.C., and southern California. Travelzoo pointed me to several different websites, including CheapTickets, Kayak, United, CheapoAir and Orbitz, and I quickly found a $379 round-trip airfare on Virgin America via Kayak. There weren't too many seats left on the flights I chose, but the quoted fare included airport taxes and fees. It was definitely a good deal.

If you're not sure where you'd like to travel next week, check out Travelzoo's Holiday Travel Deals page. You can find last-minute discounts on everything from hotels in Vancouver to cruises in Baja California, Mexico.

Of course, you'll have to act quickly. Airfare deals evaporate faster than puddles in the Mojave Desert.
