Is My Tour Bus Safe?

Wednesday January 16, 2008

My friend Bill called yesterday to tell me about a local bus company that runs between the Washington, D.C. area and Atlantic City's casinos. I was immediately intrigued, but got to wondering just how safe some of the low-cost bus companies vehicles and drivers might be.

I did a little research and found out that there is a federal agency that oversees bus and motorcoach safety. If a bus company operates across U.S. state lines, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration maintains records on its licensing, insurance and safety records.

With a little research, you can read about the safety record of your tour operator's or long-distance bus company's vehicles and drivers.
