One Week Until Independence Day - Have You Made Travel Plans?

Friday June 27, 2008

As I write this post, many of my friends are preparing for the upcoming holiday weekend. Some are hoping to leave town today and be gone all week. Others have made special long-weekend travel plans.

If you haven't decided how to celebrate Independence Day, why not head to a small-town parade or Fourth of July festival?

Lake City, Michigan, for example, bills its celebration as "The Greatest Fourth in the North." A Michigander friend got me a copy of this year's brochure. There's so much going on that the festivities last for four days - they even roast an ox. Some day I'd love to head north to Lake City's celebration.

You can find traditional Fourth of July festivals far away or close to home. Come on out and celebrate American independence.
