Canada's Acadian Coast

Thursday July 3, 2008

Yesterday's photo showed a stop sign in both French and English. No, it's not in Québec, it's in New Brunswick, Canada. New Brunswick is Canada's only bilingual province (Québec is French-only), and the northeastern part of the province includes Canada's Acadian Coast.

If you visit New Brunswick in the summer months, you'll be able to enjoy local festivals, walks on the beach, and, of course, Acadian food. This is where Cajun cooking began, and, although the Acadians don't spice their food too heavily, they pride themselves on using the freshest ingredients, straight from the sea. I can taste that lobster supper right now, can't you?

Particularly if you live in eastern Canada or the northeastern United States, the Acadian Coast is a terrific vacation destination.
