Emergency Supplies for Road Trips

Friday August 15, 2008

Recently, I've had my share of automotive disasters. In fact, I had to call a tow truck two Fridays in a row. While these experiences were not fun - in fact, we may have to scrap one of our cars - I wasn't too upset about my breakdowns. I carry a lot of emergency supplies in my cars, and when I saw my temperature gauge hit "high" and go right on past, I knew what I needed to do.

It's pretty easy to put together an emergency travel kit. Most items are needed in any season, but you should winterize your emergency supplies when you winterize your home and vehicles. If you live in earthquake, blizzard or tornado country, you should always carry extra food in your car, in addition to standard emergency supplies.

I've put together a list of the emergency items I typically carry in my car. I hope it helps you prepare for your own roadside emergencies.
