The holiday travel season is here. In spite of the economy, many people are planning to travel over the Thanksgiving weekend. Amtrak is warning that train seats may sell out and urging passengers to plan ahead, arrive early and comply with baggage policies. Airports and airlines are issuing their annual lists of travel and packing tips.
To help make your Thanksgiving vacation enjoyable instead of nightmarish, we have a few tips and tricks of our own to share with you.
If you're traveling by air, head for the airport early, particularly if you plan to park a car. Allow extra time to go through airport security, and please leave your valuables at home.
Rail passengers should also arrive at the train station early. Remember to bring your tickets and photo ID.
If a road trip is part of your Thanksgiving plans, pack an emergency kit and check the weather forecast. Have a backup plan in case you encounter weather delays. Aunt Sadie would rather have you arrive late, in good health, than have you risk a late-night drive in a driving snowstorm.
Most importantly, whichever way you choose to travel, enjoy this special time with family and friends.
