As we turn the seasonal corner from spring into summer, at least in the Northern Hemisphere, we must also remember that hurricane season has begun. While most of us will not be affected by the development of tropical storms and hurricanes, travelers planning cruise vacations and visits to the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts should be aware that tropical storms can form at any time between now and November 1.
If you're traveling to a hurricane-prone area, remember to review hurricane safety tips for travelers before leaving home, and make sure you have access to a radio for storm prediction updates.
You may also want to consider purchasing travel insurance when you book your trip, rather than waiting until a storm forms before deciding what to do. Find out more about when to purchase trip cancellation insurance (Hint: Soon).
