Ketchikan, in southeastern Alaska, is famous for several things. The city proudly calls itself the Salmon Capital of the World, and I must agree that Ketchikan's salmon is indeed excellent. Ketchikan is also famous for its rainy climate; this city lies in the heart of a temperate rain forest, and locals usually measure annual rainfall in feet, not inches. During a typical year, Ketchikan receives over 13 feet of rain!
Ketchikan is also known for its extensive collection of totem poles. You can see over 100 totem poles in the city itself, and more in the Saxman Native Village. This totem pole stands in front of a parking lot near Creek Street.
