On a trip abroad, we expect to see the unusual and unexpected, even in the world's largest cities, but we often don't think about finding those experiences closer to home.
Yet, if you look closely, most US cities have individual, unplanned histories. Somewhere within the city limits, you can find an attraction or activity that is unique to that urban area.
So, how do you find these improbable urban adventures and destinations? We've put together a list of seven unusual urban attractions in the United States. Take a look at the list and then think about cities you'd like to visit. Could you take a themed tour? Explore a haunted spot? Kayak, paddle or ride in a gondola, even in a downtown setting? The possibilities are endless, and urban adventures await you.
