Travel Photo of the Week: Winter Splendor

By January 9, 2013

Follow me on:

Some places, such as the Winter Palace in St. Peterburg, Russia, were designed to look their best during the snowy winter months. The Palace's white columns connect the structure to the snow-covered ground, while the lovely green walls contrast beautifully with all that white.

California's Yosemite Valley is another place that takes on extra beauty during a snowfall. The sparkle of snow-covered trees makes this unique National Park a very special place in the winter.

Even though many of us are tempted to flee the snow and cold, sometimes it's worth taking a trip to one of these special winter destinations. If you plan to fly or drive to a snowy place, be sure to plan ahead for potential air travel delays and winter road conditions.

Because of living in the South, my husband and I have almost no experience driving in ice and snow. That has kept us from seeing some of the winter sights. I guess a tour group is the answer!
