Aachen Cathedral

The cathedral was built in several stages. The central octagonal chapel, commissioned by Charlemagne, was consecrated in 805 A.D.

The choir hall, with its soaring stained glass windows, was completed in 1414, after 60 years of construction. Several side chapels jut out from Charlemagne's octagon.
