Peace Wall, Belfast, Northern Ireland

From Nancy Parode, About.com

Also known as "peace lines," walls and metal barricades have been built all over Belfast to separate neighborhoods.

The peace walls run right along residents' back yards, invading tranquil-looking neighborhoods with corrugated metal and barbed wire. Graffiti created by tourists and locals express everything from "I was here," to "Break the wall." While Belfast is an extremely safe city to visit, the walls constantly remind residents and visitors that this peace is fragile.
