Profile of Generations Touring Company

By , About.com Guide

Company Information:
Generations Touring Company brings families together through shared travel, particularly grandparents and their grandchildren.
Mission:
Generations Touring Company was created to help families enjoy intergenerational travel experiences. Tom Easthope, founder and President, writes, "Every family has a "golden age" where the elders have the resources, time and need to connect. Children are old enough to appreciate the experience and able travel without excess support. Traveling together provides the unique opportunity to separate from the hectic daily routine and form a more meaningful bond."
Destinations:
North, Central, and South America, Vietnam.
Tour Participant Demographics:
All ages, but children’s activities are aimed at travelers ages 8 - 13.
Single Traveler Information:
Generations Touring Company does offer single rooms on its tours, but the travel experiences are created with family groups in mind. Singles will pay a supplement.
Cost:
Varies from $1,499 to $3,199 per adult, plus airfare; children pay less.
Trip Length:
Most trips are seven or eight days long.
Quick Facts:
  • Generations Touring Company was founded in 2003 to offer unique itineraries for grandparents, parents and children.
  • Tour groups typically range from 10 - 25 participants. If you get a group of 10 travelers together, you can arrange a trip exclusively for your group.
  • Generations Touring Company is accustomed to working with both grandparent / grandchild groups and three-generation family groups.
  • The company’s two most popular tours are “Baseball’s Sacred Grounds” (Boston and New York City) and “Pura Vida!” (Costa Rica).
  • While on your trip, you’ll see and do things that most tour operators don’t offer. For example, you’ll tour Yankee Stadium and have dinner with a sports industry professional – perhaps a sportswriter – on the “Baseball’s Sacred Grounds” tour.
  • Generations Touring Company works with each family group, through questionnaires and discussions, to match each group with the best possible itinerary.
  • Tour prices do not include airfare.
