Will Rogers was born in this home in 1870, when present-day Oklahoma was still Indian Territory. His parents, Clement Vann Rogers and Mary America Schrimsher Rogers, raised cattle - Texas longhorns - on the ranch.

Although Will Rogers never called his birthplace the Dog Iron Ranch, the home takes its name from a cattle brand he chose later in life.
