About the Frazier Museum of International History:

Owsley Brown Frazier's gun collection is at the heart of this museum, which opened to the public in 2004. The Frazier Museum traces the history of shooting and warfare from 1066 A.D. and the Battle of Hastings to the early 20th century. The Royal Armouries' 300-piece collection, on loan to the Frazier Museum, includes European arms and armor from the 11th through the early 20th century. King Henry VIII's armor, chain mail, swords and small arms are just some of the highlights of this outstanding collection.

The permanent Frazier Collection includes guns, weapons and artifacts, mainly American, dating from the 16th through the early 20th century. Highlights include President George Washington's long gun, several items owned by President Theodore Roosevelt, and the Boone family Bible.

The Frazier Museum's special exhibits focus on the history behind the weapons. Costumed interpreters appear several times per day, presenting information on people, events and arms from this period. You may meet Dolley Madison, Vlad the Impaler or Clara Barton, or watch two-handed sword combat in the museum's Tournament Ring. Special hands-on activities for children and closed-captioned video presentations on warfare and arms making round out your museum experience. The Frazier Museum also offers special presentations, such as history lectures, and events, including concerts and historical balls.

The museum is three stories high. The ground floor contains the Arms of Distinction exhibit, interpretive stage, gift shop and educational center. The second floor includes the permanent Frazier Collection of arms and artifacts as well as special exhibit space. The third floor is dedicated to the Royal Armouries Collection; there is also a small special exhibit area. Stairways and elevators connect the floors.
