There's something truly magical about a holiday light display. In some cities, neighborhoods go all out for Christmas. In others, large, elaborate drive-through holiday light displays attract visitors from the surrounding area.
In Washington, D.C., the National Christmas Tree and Pageant of Peace draw visitors from all over the world. The National Christmas Tree, lit by the President in a special ceremony, is the centerpiece of a three-week series of concerts and performances.
The Indianapolis Zoo was the first zoo in the country to create a holiday light display. Marsh Christmas at the Zoo and Indiana Rail Road's Holiday Trainland is a 25-day event that transforms the zoo into a winter wonderland of lights. Wander the zoo's walkways, check out model train displays and enjoy dolphin shows and visits with Santa.
For a Texas-sized holiday light experience, head to Santa's Wonderland in College Station. Drive your car or take a hayride through the lighting display – there are over 2.5 million lights – and then park near Santa's Town, an area with shops, food and entertainment, all Texas-themed. Yes, there's even a mechanical bull.
