Durgin-Park Restaurant, Faneuil Hall Marketplace

By , About.com Guide

The Freedom Trail dead-ends at Boston Common, and you'll need to double back to Faneuil Hall to explore the trail's other leg. Why not stop for lunch?

Boston is home to many historic restaurants. Durgin-Park, which opened in 1827, has its own crazy brand of service. You'll sit at a long table with any fellow diners who can squeeze in. Your menu will say "Your grandfather probably ate here" on the cover. Your hard-working waitress might be too busy to smile. Baked beans and Indian pudding have been on the menu at least since my father was in college.
