Perley House, 1870

Although many Loyalists fled the American Colonies with little more than the clothes on their backs, most of them quickly established themselves as successful farmers, businessmen and civil servants. Imported goods from all over the world found their way into Loyalist homes as the standard of living grew. In the Perley House, you'll see fine furnishings, delicate ceramics and colorful wallpaper - all signs of the owner's prosperity and status.
