The United Church of Canada brought together Methodist, Presbyterian, Congregational Union and General Council of Union churches into one Protestant denomination. Not all Presbyterian congregations joined the United Church; 30 percent of Presbyterians remained independent.

Riverside Presbyterian is just one of the church buildings at Kings Landing. The local Presbyterians built it after the United Church of Canada began in 1925.
