Excavations continue at the La Brea Tar Pits. Scientists have unearthed thousands of fossils, but many remain buried in sticky asphalt. You can visit Pit 91, the current excavation site, at any time of year, but paleontologists only work in the pit from late June to early October each year. During the remaining months, you can read about their work on this sign, which includes answers to frequently asked questions such as, "Do your clothes get dirty?" (Yes!)
